Africa: a continent of vast landscapes, ancient soils, and unfolding stories in the world of wine. And yet, when we speak of “serious” wine, our minds so often drift elsewhere, to the comfort of familiar estates and regions we know by heart.
Meanwhile, across these lands, a different narrative is evolving, one marked by resilience and innovation. African wine has existed since the Dutch settlers of Cape Town nearly 400 years ago, but has since been continually underestimated and frequently dismissed. However, rarely has it been truly explored.
Why do we hesitate? Is it loyalty to tradition? Fear of the unfamiliar? Or simply the habit of reaching for what we already know?
Come Monday, we set aside the old maps.
Join us as we journey across this extraordinary continent, tasting great wines that have hitherto been ignored. From regions with deep-rooted traditions to those only just finding their voice, each bottle offers a fresh perspective, not just on African wine, but on the boundaries of the wine world itself.
This is not about replacing the classics. It is about expanding the conversation.
